Volunteer Spotlight: Mike Sigmond

If Mike Sigmond’s voice sounds familiar to you when you hear him read for RTBS, it’s no coincidence. He has a legacy of broadcasting fame here in the River City. Born in Philadelphia, he moved to Omaha when he was 10 so his stepfather could take a job teaching economics at UNO. Mike discovered a love for broadcasting when he took a job at his college radio station in Lancaster, PA. His love for economics developed after he entered the work force. He married his two passions by working as a Consumer Reporter for Channel 7, where he hosted the 7 Can Help Consumer Watch daily segments. In 2007, Mike retired from broadcasting and became a financial advisor. He loves working with his clients, showing them that finances can be fun. When Mike is not contemplating the power of the dollar, he loves hanging with his kids, riding his peloton, and playing ice hockey. You can hear Mike subbing for the daily live read of the Lincoln Journal Star and Omaha World Herald.  He is also one of the regular voices for Omaha Magazine.
